These Events originally were scheduled for 3 seperate days.

NYC Parks decided to combine the work force and events.

Friends of Ferry Point Park was responsible for signage, decorations,

outreach, gathering and feeding the volunteers.

The fall 2007 "It's My Park! Day", was designed to complete the last wave of plantings of the 3000 Sapling trees donated by the Prince of Monaco for a Living Memorial Forest in Memory of the lives lost at the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the Twin Towers.

The combined event added this planting to Mayor Bloomberg's PlaNYC initiative.

With the support of the City of New York Parks Department, the New York Restoration Project and Million TreesNYC the planting of many trees in each borough was made possible.

The Natural Resources Group worked hard to make this happen and they were very patiently involving the many volunteers in the process. Daniella Pereira, project manager of NRG "was the easiest person to work with" said Dotti Poggi, "we thank her again for her help with the seperate planting of the Throggs Neck "Lynch Families trees". "The changes in the 3 main events to be held all on one day certainly taxed our small but thankfully,,dedicated volunteers.

"Jennifer Greenfeld & Gail Wittwer worked with A Capital Designer who planned out and marked where all trees would be planted, we are attempting to provide a forest environment, the trees need to fight each other for sunlight in order to grow strong and tall" says Danielle.

Various groups composed of residents and students throughout NYC joined Friends of Ferry Point Park during each "It's My Park! Day".

Police Officer John Kiernan and Captain Celeste of the 45th Precinct brought 50 plus NYPD Explorers group as promised to Dorothea Poggi after she attended the 45th Concil meeting and gave out flyers to ask for help at the park to plant the remains of the 3000 sapling trees. Friends of Ferry Point Park led by Dotti Poggi also cooked 300 hotdogs, gave out halloween candy to all and beverages.

joined as volunteersa public service initiative  through Green Apple Corps, a public service initiative of NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. Friends of Ferry Point Park is the group that works along side the Green Apple Corp. and supplies water and snacks for the volunteers. We continue to lead Tree Stewardships throughout the summer helping children to obtain a passion and love for their environment while building their integrity and pride by being part of a hands on work force that accomplishes with action instead of words.

Girl Scouts Troops 1302, 1322, and 1352 volunteered through Partnership for Parks, a nonprofit joint venture of City Parks Foundation and City of New York Parks and Recreation. This group of girls and their troop leaders was our first group of volunteers back in Spring of 2004 and has been our core group for most events since. We appreciate their help and devotion to Friends of Ferry Point Park. The girls always have a great time as they continue to clean up Hindu Debris, Weed around Trees, Spread mulch, Rake Leaves, and plant daffodils."The girls had a great time. Many have visited between events with their families and friends. Girl Scout leader Maddy McCormack. The Girl Scouts not only planted trees but also daffodils; just like their spirit, the daffodils will brighten up Ferry Point Park.
