Please be patient...if you read this small note while the photos are uploading you will enjoy the
COPY OF OUR POWER POINT SHOW below the list of volunteers
that we prepared to DISPLAY the work we have accomplished over the last few years.
We hope that with some consideration from our elected officials when they plan their budgets,
the Parks Department when they give out permits,
the Police and PEP Officers when they monitor the visitors that use the park....
we should be able to enhance this Park to a point where people from all over will enjoy a healthy, safe, diversified Ferry Point Park on a regular basis.
VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE WORKED WITH "FRIENDS OF FERRY POINT PARK"

NYPD Explorers: Group led by Police Officer John Kiernan and Captain Celeste of the 45th Precinct. 50 plus NYPD Explorers

These volunteers were brought at the request of Dorothea Poggi after she attended the 45th Council meeting and gave out flyers.

Dotti asked for help at the park to plant the remains of the 3000 sapling trees donated by the Prince of Monaco to create a 9/11 Living

Memorial Forest at FP Park. This event later turned into a Million Trees NYC planting as well.

These volunteers registered through a public service initiative with the Green Apple Corps.

Friends of Ferry Point Park is one of the groups that works along side the Green Apple Corps. a public service initiative of NYC Department of

Parks and Recreation.

We supplied volunteers, time, leadership, water, gloves and snacks or lunch for many of the volunteers.

300 Hotdogs with all the trimmings/Halloween candy and haunted trail decorations/refreshments/signage/flyers were supplied through Friends

of FPtPk.

We continue to lead Tree Stewardships throughout the summer helping children to obtain a passion and love for their environment while

building their integrity and pride by being part of a hands on work force that accomplishes with "action as well as words".

Girl Scouts Troops: 1302, 1322, and 1352 originally joined "Friends" through the American Littoral Society website which lists volunteer

 participation events throughout the globe.

At the Oct. 2007 event they were registered through "Friends" along with Partnership for Parks, a nonprofit joint venture of City Parks

Foundation and City of New York Parks and Recreation.

This group of girls and their troop leaders was our first group of volunteers back in Spring of 2004 and has been our core group for most events

 since.

We appreciate their help and devotion to Friends of Ferry Point Park.

Each Event is led by Dorothea Poggi plus other leaders to make sure the volunteers are accounted for and have instruction.

The girls always have a great time as they continue to clean up Hindu Debris, Weed around Trees, Spread mulch, Rake Leaves, and plant

daffodils.

"The girls had a great time. Many have visited between events with their families and friends". states Girl Scout leader Maddy McCormick.

The Girl Scouts not only planted trees but also daffodils; just like their spirit, the daffodils will brighten up Ferry Point Park.
